I've been a fan of Sci-Fi all my life but I don't think I've ever heard of anything quite like this before. In anycase, I want one of these.

Web Squared!

Still hard to see how it's going to to impact on everyday life. Unless it looks somthing like this...

Genetic Engineering and Nano Technology however do look like they could impact soon!

What do we recon? April fool? The date stamp is cunningly deceptive.

Bay area food_pill'ers might be interested to know that the SFMOMA is currently hosting an exhibition of "dystopian future" themed films - The Future of the Past: Utopia/Dystopia, 1965-1984. :)

I don't live in the area, but for those of you that do, this might be a good opportunity for a meetup. Feel free to use food_pill as a launching board.

When SF becomes reality, and loop [Feb. 24th, 2009|09:12 pm]

The description here is "When SF becomes reality", IIRC ... so why am I posting an SF short story? Because 4chan itself is in a way a common theme of SF. Decentralized flow of information, and stand alone complex type entities will one day become forces of powerful beauty, and dangerous consequence right? One needs look no further than the Dusty the Cat incident recently to see the danger an anonymous SAC-type entity can pose to the ostracized among "the tribe". That Kenny Glenn kid is screwed pretty much forever, his name and video of him kicking a cat's ass are online as long as there is an Internet. Not good for young Mr. Glenn. That's some serious consequence right there, and that particular list of lives deservedly and undeservedly ruined by chaners is by no means limited to young Mr. Glenn.

So what of the beauty? What of the art? Well, I just happened across a link to an archived thread on 4chan's /tg/ (traditional games), and it is a post a just a few paragraphs long. This sounds unbelievable, but trust me, 4chan hosts one of the best SF stories I've ever read, and perhaps one of the best ever written, though that is subjective. it's being passed around though, reposted around chans, social sites like reddit and digg ... and pretty much everyone has been wowed. This would almost certainly win awards and be among the most famous new authors in SF if this was in say ... F&SF or Asimov's instead of some thread on an anonymous imageboard.

What a world we are in today.

Here it is: We Made a Mistake

Don't forget, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me.

NASA has a poll up to name the new ISS node, and Serenity is an option on it.

You know what to do. :D

I was nervous asking for help before, but i got so many great responses from some brilliant minds out there who seem OK with me mailing them questions so I figure you'll not mind if I post an open query for anyone to answer or speculate upon.
Another thing I'm big on at the moment (apart from questions) are people helping me 'birth' comic ideas - someone suggests something, and someone interjects something else, and before you know it you've got a tiny seedling of an idea or plot. I get emails from my brother in law a lot with new ideas and interesting theories and he mentioned this to me.
Flamethrowers in space.

Is it true that the flame would be like a liquid in zero gravity? And how would it look, mainly move, and react with nearby objects such at satellites or say a space station?
I've never actually really thought about space exploration but this is a hell of a cool idea, no? It means I've got to ask more questions on space though, so anything you know would be appreciated :D
